Part 1

Reflecting on the Past Year

Look back at this year before you plan the next one. Answer in a few words or a few lines.

Anything you want next year to change is a clue for Part 2.

Part 2

Brainstorming Next Year

What do you want next year to look like? Add every idea you have, and hold off on filtering. Some ideas belong in two columns, so put those in the third.

Wheel of life optional

Rate each area from 1 to 10 for how this year went, then set where you want it to be next year. The gaps can point to goal ideas. Every slider starts at 5.

    Part 5

    Finding Your Word

A word of the year fits your intentions for the year ahead and guides you through it. Start from the feeling you just named, then narrow down to a single word.

    Step 1: Brainstorm

    Word bank

Select the words that pull at you to add them to your shortlist. You can shortlist up to five. Your word can also be one that isn't on this list.

    Step 2: Fit check

Test each shortlisted word. Yes scores 2, Maybe scores 1, and No scores 0, out of 8.

    Step 3: Choose your word

    Part 6

    Your Symbol

A symbol is an image tied to your word, brought into physical form. Choose one image, then look for it in jewelry, desk items, home decor, or art.

    Examples to spark ideas

These four are only samples of how a word and an image can pair. Your symbol can be anything that fits your word. You don't need to pick from this list.

    My symbol

Choose the one image that keeps your word close.

    Part 7

    Using Your Word

Your word works best when you see it often. Choose where it will show up in your business and your daily life.

      Quarterly Check-In

Set aside 10 minutes at the end of each quarter to see how your word and your goal are doing, then carry what you learn into the next quarter.
